Which treatment is best for what type of hair?

There are mainly 2 types of hair growth.

1. Hairs that have a job to do:

Hair that controls our body temperature, (fine hair on our legs, arms etc), hair that cushions our body and captures sweat and perspiration (eye brows and pubic hair)

2. Hormonally grown hair:

Hair that can appear due to hormone changes in the body, (chin, neck, upper lip, nipples and chest etc)

Laser

Is effective for treating large areas and you will see a great reduction in hair growth, however there are quite a few contra indications to the treatment and the success of the treatment relies on the contrast of the hair and skin colour as mentioned above.

Waxing

Is also great for large areas (legs, arms, back and chest) and can reduce this type of hair growth over a period of time. However, it can make hormonally grown hair, grow back stronger. This is because waxing is like mass plucking. The hair is plucked and blood rushes to the area along with hormones which are carried in the blood. The hormones then feed the hair, encouraging a stronger hair growth.
